IRVING GORDON FELS, PhD (1917-1987) was a Renaissance man - a research biochemist, classical guitarist and athlete who made mosaics out of seeds and beads and wrote several books, none of which was published. His first was "The Mouse Trap," a satire of the business end of biochemistry, which he deplored, Optimistically, he gave the equivalent of a down payment on a house to a vanity publisher and sold no books. He wrote a well-researched play about Montezuma and a dystopian novel about the collapse of structures and with them, society. His final work was an Encyclopedia of Failure.
He was a great success as a human, raising two sons and a daughter with his wife, Loraine, whom he adored.
His daughter, Susan Church-Downer, has named her publishing company in his honor.
